KODA girl signs Christmas concert for Deaf parents of Clearwater, Fla., A 5-year-old became an Internet sensation overnight for doing what she says is "easy for her." Claire Koch used sign language during her Christmas pageant to share what she was singing with her Deaf parents.

Lori Putney Koch her 5-year-old daughter, Claire, did a better job signing for her Deaf parents at a kindergarten holiday concert at Plumb Elementary School.

Deaf Advocates Asks Europe Union For Interpreter Standards

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Deaf campaigners hope Mandela interpreter scandal will help raise standards.

The European Parliament has been hosting a conference, organised by the European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters (EFSLI), aimed at improving training across the EU.

“I was appalled by the standard of interpreting obviously,” said efsli’s President, Peter Llewellyn-Jones, referring to what happened at the Soweto stadium. “But I think I would say that man (#fakeinterpreter) has done more for our cause that we could have achieved in 10 years of campaigning. Because now everybody is talking about the standards of interpreting and that’s what we have been trying to raise the profile of.”

The timing of the forum, so soon after the South African scandal, is coincidental.

SNL Spoofs Fake Sign Language Interpreter Skit

VIDEO: 'Saturday Night Live' fake interpreter from Nelson Mandela funeral strikes again.

NEW YORK - 'Saturday Night Live' kicked off its John Goodman-helmed episode with President Obama (Jay Pharoah) lamenting the "series of unfortunate events" that happened at the memorial for Nelson Mandela.

First of all, there was that selfie with the Danish Prime Minister, then the handshake with Raul Castro ("He told me he was Edward James Olmos,") and finally, the sign language interpreter who didn't appear to know sign language. Naturally, after mentioning him, Thamsanqa Jantjie (Kenan Thompson) appeared behind the POTUS and proceeded to "loosely" interpret the rest of the speech.

Most importantly, 'SNL' reminded us that lost amongst all the hoopla were the feelings of poor Angela Merkel, he never got her selfie with Obama, even after he spied on her.

Deaf children are born with the same basic capacities for learning and language as all children; they can and should reach their full potential with appropriate, visual, quality educational programmes and support - it is their human rights!

Real Interpreter of the Nelson Mandela Memorial

Signed Version - Real Interpreter: Bringing the Deaf community real sign language interpreting of the Nelson Mandela memorial by Convo.

The Convo VRS company provides the Deaf community REAL sign language interpreting of the Nelson Mandela memorial at realinterpreter.com.

An incident occurred during the memorial service in which a man, now dubbed the “#fakeinterpreter”, stood next to speakers and interpreted the entire event in sign language. However, none of his signing was legitimate and the Deaf community was not given accessibility to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela. This site is our way of honoring him while bringing language accessibility to the Deaf community all over the world, just what Mandela would have wanted.

We want this to be a place of community exchange and resources. We welcome submissions of speech translations in your country's sign language. Together, we can show the world what REAL sign languages look like. Contact submit@realinterpreter.com if you’d like to contribute.

PETA: (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) - Actor Olivia Munn - star of HBO's hit series The Newsroom - is taking her role as senior financial reporter to a new level by exposing "globalization at its worst" in her brand-new undercover video exposé, which reveals never-before-seen footage of animals being beaten, stomped, genitally electrocuted, and skinned alive on Chinese fur farms, where there are no penalties for this abuse.

China is the world's largest exporter of fur, and undercover investigations repeatedly reveal what the fashion industry won't tell you: foxes, minks, rabbits, and even dogs and cats are mercilessly killed in order to make fur coats, vests, trim on jackets, purses, and other accessories.

"Who needs fur to feel beautiful?" Olivia asks in her beautiful print ad, shot by top photographer Emily Shur, as a poignant reminder that fur only looks good on its original owner: the animal.

CLEARWATER, FL. - (NBC News) - A "fake" sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's memorial prompted one Deaf mom to show the world how it's really done.

Very entertaining video of a KODA (kid of deaf adults) enthusiastically singing holiday songs using sign language and animated facial expressions. Watch this and it would be the best 3:40 minutes you've spent in your day.

Lori Putney Koch of Clearwater, Fla., on Wednesday tweeted that her 5-year-old daughter, Claire, did a better job signing for her Deaf parents at a kindergarten holiday concert at Plumb Elementary School.

In the too-cute video posted on YouTube, Claire (in the middle, with the blonde hair) can be seen singing along with her classmates while signing in American Sign Language. Her animated facial expressions are just Claire being herself, her mom told TODAY Moms: "She is full of personality and spunk, that's the Claire we know."

CNN - Shock and outrage around the world amid claims that the sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's memorial was a fake. Interpreter at Mandela memorial dubbed a 'fake,' group says.

The Deaf Federation of South Africa says the unnamed man is not a recognized professional.

"The so-called 'interpreter' who interpreted at the official memorial service for late former president Nelson Mandela at FNB stadium has been dubbed the 'fake interpreter' and the Deaf community is in outrage," Bruno Druchen, national director of DeafSA, said in a statement.

"He is not known by the Deaf Community in South Africa nor by the South African sign language interpreters working in the field."

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO [CC] - Mandela memorial 'fake' sign language interpreter defends himself. A South African sign language interpreter accused of gesturing gibberish during the Nelson Mandela.

JOHANNESBURG - A South African sign language interpreter accused of gesturing gibberish during the Nelson Mandela memorial on Tuesday has spoken out.

Thamsanqa Jantjie said he suffers from schizophrenia which affected him during the service.

The 34-year-old told Johannesburg’s Star newspaper he started hearing voices and hallucinating while on stage.

Jantjie explained how the condition has affected him: “I see angels come to the stadium. Sometimes I will react violently on that place. Sometimes I will see things chasing me. You know, I was in a very very difficult position,” he said.

Interpreter refuses to sign for CNN. Thamsanqa Jantjie, the sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela's memorial, defends his "translation" at the event.

“Please forgive me, but what I was doing, I was doing what I believe is my calling, I was doing what I believe makes a difference to the country,” Jantjie continued.

After the memorial, South Africa’s leading Deaf association denounced Jantjie as a “fake.”

The South African government has admitted he was not a professional interpreter.

JOHANNESBURG - The Madiba memorial interpreter - who has been dubbed a “fake and a fraud” - is receiving treatment for schizophrenia.

Thami Jantjie, the fake interpreter, said in an interview with Talk Radio 702 he is currently receiving treatment for this disorder.

Jantjie also questioned why nobody picked up at the time that he wasn't interpreting properly.

"Remember, you are talking about an interpreter who has been interpreting through these years. If I was wrong why should it become an issue now?” he asked.

Jantjie said he is sad because he believes the issue could have been dealt with early if DeafSA had picked up his way of interpreting.

Thami Jantjie, the infamous sign language interpreter at the Mandela memorial service on Monday, says he suffers from schizophrenia.

He said that he doesn't want to discuss his condition as it will harm his children. Jantjie added that he is a senior interpreter with SA Interpreters.

Deaf Outraged Over Fake Sign Language Interpreter At Mandela Memorial

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO [CC] - The international Deaf community is angry over what they say was a fake sign language interpreter used at Mandela's memorial.

JOHANNESBURG - 'Fake' Mandela memorial sign language interpreter incites anger. It was an event the whole world was watching, but some Deaf people couldn't understand a word spoken at Mandela’s memorial and took to Twitter to vent their frustration.

Allegations have been made that the sign language interpreter used at the memorial may have been unqualified.

Braam Jordaan, a Deaf South African citizen and board member of the World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section (WDFYS), told SBS he believes the interpreter is a fake.

"The structure of his hand, facial expressions and the body movements did not follow what the speaker was saying," he told SBS via email.

Mr Jordaan says the interpreter, who was signing for a portion of the ceremony including Obama's speech, was simply making up his own signs.

"I was really upset and humiliated by the mystery interpreter who was supposed to be signing what Barack Obama, the president of United States of America was saying," he says. "He made up his own signs."

"What happened at the memorial service is truly disgraceful thing to see - it should not happen at all.

"What happened today will be forever aligned with Nelson Mandela & Deaf Community, thanks to this fake interpreter."

Mr Jordaan says there have been question marks over the same interpretor at previous ANC events.
